"The Before Times" is MIATp's sophomore EP and also an experience in time travel. This musical time capsule, recorded before the COVID-19 pandemic, delves into the realms of nostalgia, introspection, and the passage of time. This collection of five tracks is a way-marker in MIATp's artistic evolution and their ability to create moments of beguiling intimacy.

In "The Before Times," MIATp showcases the distinctive blend of contemporary classical style and humorous innuendos that characterized the formation of their band. The composers featured on this EP seamlessly weave together intricate melodic shapes, eloquent harmonies, and even some giggle-inducing lyrics. Each track serves as a vignette, inviting the audience to explore various aspects of the human experience, from savoring solitude amid nature's embrace to finding the delicate balance between wearied toil and rejuvenating vitality.

The album features music by Jessica Rudman, Anna Swansun, Alan Theisen, Michael Young, and Michelle McQuade Dewhirst. The compositions were all featured in MIATp's first touring program, This World Of Yes.

"The Before Times" is an exploration of MIATp's contemporary classical work before pivoting more fully toward avant-pop styles, expertly crafted to transport the listener through time's (not always) tender embrace. MIATp is Megan Ihnen (vocals) and Alan Theisen (saxophone).
